Athens Urban Transport Organization (OASA), henceforth named Transport for Athens (www.tfa.gov.gr), announced a plan to improve the capital’s transport network. This plan includes  a reduction to tickets fare and several changes to bus routes so that they provide more connections to metro and ISAP electric railway stations as well as the inauguration of new routes in areas that receive irregular services.

As of September 2014, commuters will pay 20 cents less for tickets allowing them to use all modes of public transportation in Athens, though they will be valid for 70 minutes rather than 90 as was the case previously.

The new ticket, priced at 1.20 euros, allows passengers to use the capital’s fixed-track network, buses and trolley buses for a period of 70 minutes.

The old 1.40-euro tickets will remain valid through the end of March.
