The most famous sights are the Acropolis, the Parthenon, Agora, the Theater of Dionysos and the National Gardens, but to visit these attractions is merely to scratch the surface of what Athens has to offer.

Apart from several archaeological Museums – click HERE to take a hint – the city hosts 17 Foreign Archaeological Institutes, has more than a dozen archaeological libraries and three specialized archaeological laboratories, it is the venue of several hundred specialized lectures, conferences and seminars, as well as dozens of archaeological exhibitions per year.

Athens is also home to the Demokritos laboratory for Archaeometry and to the Athens Planetarium which is considered one of the largest and best equipped digital planetaria in the world.
